How to Read a Book

Formula fiction is a reality; does a formula for writing popular books & best-sellers now exist? The publisher’s weekly article hints that popular authors may be utilizing book principles.

The notion of formula fiction is one controversial idea in book authorship. It can be polarizing, with 2 schools of thought or with maybe a linear spectrum ranging from a general distaste, or to the very upfront thank you’s. 

It is not if there is just one magic formula for writing enjoyable or bestselling books. Authors from Agatha Christie to James Patterson have a seeming structure that underlies their above-format writing; when they find their own formula, they follow...

One could argue that books aren't only creative works, they are also scientific; if one considers that readers do have expectations for a story; if a book is to be widely comprehensible, certain formalities must be adhered to. I feel most readers will note some universal principles in the structure of a likable book.

If you are a writer who wants to publish your book, you have to realize that certain companies, who are masquerading as publishers, will try to lure your writing in with the false promises of fame or fortune. In reality, business models have been conceived that would amount to preying on the feelings of the would-be author to purchase a certain amount of books in the vanity sense. Read some of the contracts; royalties & real profit are leveraged by the scam publishers. If we really want our books to be represented in the reading world, we will be well advised to start our own company or shop the manuscripts to the relevant publishers who will take our writing on, when truly valued in a publishing sense.  Author mills = scam.
